Sustainable architecture

Both how we build and how we inhabit our built environment today offers enormous potential to positively impact our ecological footprint. Adaptive, nature-based, and regenerative strategies on site aim to reduce our externalized resource demand and reduce the pressure on landscapes at large. At Umeå School of Architecture the research and teaching lab Designing Cycles at 64° latitude explores how the built environment and its inhabitants can turn from being consumers to becoming producers within the specific climate conditions of the Arctic.
